2011 Birdcam Timeline March 1: The female peregrine falcon returned to the nest box. March 17: The male peregrine falcon returned to the nest box and the courting took place. April 4: The first egg was laid. April 6: The second egg was laid. April 8: The third egg was laid. April 10: The fourth egg was laid. April 22: Lost the female falcon and her clutch of four eggs to a possible territorial dispute. April 29: A second female arrived at the nest box, and courting took place. May 11: The second clutch ~ the first egg was laid. May 13: The second egg was laid. May 15: The third egg was laid. May 18: The fourth egg was laid. June 19: Three of the eyasses hatched. June 20: The fourth eyass hatched. July 8: The eyasses were taken from the nest box and brought down for the banding. Some students from the Salk Middle School attended the banding and helped name the two female eyasses, Elisabeth and Skye. The two male eyasses were named Wayne and Hanson; they were named in memory of the former Director of MN Generation, who passed away earlier this spring. July 26: First eyeass to leave the nest box. Note: To date 17 eyeasses have fledged from the Great River Energy Elk River ~ Energy Recovery Station. |
