Great River Energy issues peak alert
Elk River, MN (August 6, 2001) - Great River Energy has issued a peak alert through its member co-ops for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, August 6-8, 2001 from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. each day. A list of the counties affected by this peak are listed below.
The peak alert is being issued because of high temperatures and humidity resulting in high demand on the Great River Energy system. Customers are being notified of the peak alert through public service announcements on local radio stations.
In order to conserve power, Great River Energy’s member co-ops are asking their customers to voluntarily cut back energy use by turning off excess lights and drawing curtains and draperies closed. Some other energy-saving suggestions include:
