Q. How can I share my thoughts about where I think the transmission line should be routed?

A. If you are invited to an open house for a project in your area, it is important that you attend. Public meetings are held to answer landowner questions, encourage public discussion and obtain input on proposed routes. For some projects, you may be contacted directly for your input.

Q. Who decides which route to choose?

A. For projects that are permitted through the state of Minnesota, the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission, following extensive public input, makes the final decision on where the line will be built. Other projects follow the permitting processes set by local governmental units. Learn more about permitting considerations and the state of Minnesota’s permitting process.
